- Websites: fit inside 1920 px as WebP for full-width images, or 1200 px for images in an article.
- Forms with a size limit: lower the quality and size until the total is under the limit, such as 100 KB or 1 MB.
- Profile pictures: crop to Square and fit inside 800 px.
Private image compression
Most image compressors upload your photos to a server, limit how many you can do for free and show ads. This one runs in your browser: no uploads, no ads, no limits and no sign-up.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Images are compressed, resized and cropped by your own browser. They never leave your device, so it is safe for personal photos, IDs and documents.
What quality should I use?
75% is a good default: for most photos the result looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Go down to 50 to 60% for the smallest files, or up to 85 to 90% for print.
Which format is smallest?
WebP is usually 25 to 35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and works on every modern browser and phone. JPG is best when a site or app only accepts JPG. PNG is lossless, so it suits screenshots and logos but makes large photo files.
How do I resize an image to a set size?
Choose Fit inside and enter the largest width and height you want, such as 1920 by 1080. The image is scaled down to fit while keeping its shape. Choose By percent to shrink it by a share, such as 50%.
How do I crop to a square or another shape?
Press Crop on an image, pick Square, 4:5, 16:9 or another shape, then drag the box and its corners. On a keyboard, arrow keys move the box and Shift with arrow keys resizes it.
Does it remove location data?
Yes. Every image that is re-saved loses its hidden details, such as GPS location and camera model. Only images that were already smaller than any compressed version are kept untouched, and those are marked as already optimized.
Can I compress HEIC photos from an iPhone?
In Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac, yes: HEIC photos open and are saved as JPG. Other browsers can't read HEIC yet. On an iPhone you can also set Camera, Formats to Most Compatible to take JPG photos.
